Girls Bowling: Leyden’s Hall takes third at state finals

A third-place individual finish by sophomore Reba Hall led Leyden to sixth place in the IHSA Girls Bowling State Tournament in held Friday and Saturday in Rockford.
Hall’s two-day total of 2,671 pins was good for a 222.6 average and left her behind only Lincoln-Way West junior Morgan Flaherty (2,764; 230.3 average) and Sandburg junior Nicole Powell (2,684; 223.7 average).
Andrew won the team championship with 12,349, followed by Minooka (12,327), Waubonsie Valley (12,224), Oswego East (12,172), Machesney Park-Harlem (12,150), Leyden (12,134), Collinsville (11,981), O’Fallon (11,817), Rockford Guilford (11,665) and Belleville West (11,462) among the top 10.
Also contributing six-game totals to the Eagles’ team finish were freshman Ashley Kriston (2,505), junior Danielle Trevino (2,414) and sophomore Erika Pimentel (2,367). Senior Sara Danek chipped in with a five-game total of 1,624; senior Nicole Witczak had a two-game 386 total, and freshman Nicole Pitsenbarger scored 171 in one game.
