A month ago, the Village Board of Trustees passed a $15.5 million bond issue to fund the cost overruns of the new police station (another $10 million “back-door” bond issue). But the citizens of Franklin Park have risen up and demanded that they get the right to vote on whether they want higher property taxes to cover this blunder.

The $5 million dollar question is … “Why, when the bids came in so high, wasn’t the scope and size of the police station project reduced to fit within the approved $10 million in bonds?

And, if you read your latest village newsletter, there is no mention of the fact that more than $5 million is going to fund the new police station.
