D212 residency days March 12, March 16
East and West Leyden high schools will hold “Residency Verification Days” for incoming freshmen from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16.
Parents or guardians of West Leyden students should enter through Entrance 2 at the campus, 1000 N. Wolf Road, Northlake.
Parents or guardians of East Leyden students should enter at Entrance 4 at the campus, 3400 Rose St., Franklin Park.
The following documentation will be required:
• Student’s Birth Certificate (original or certified copy, not photocopy)
• Guardian’s drivers license or state ID or passport
• Proof of Residency (at least one of the following): signed lease; most recent property tax bill; current mortgage statement.
If none of the above are available: Notarized landlord form (obtained from the assistant principal’s office prior to the event) and at least two of the following documents: gas bill; electric bill; water bill; public aid card; voter registration card; home/condo insurance certificate; state of Illinois auto registration; pay stub; telephone bill.
Exceptional Eag leBreakfast at East
These students were honored Feb. 14 at East Leyden High School in Franklin Park.
The monthly breakfast is held to recognize students for their extraordinary effort, special achievements and academic excellence.

Girls Basket ballteam raises $1,000
District 212 Girls Basketball Team hosted its first “World Cancer Night” on Feb. 4 at a home game in the West Leyden fieldhouse.
The occasion raised $1,000 for the American Cancer Society. Team members raised the money by holding a bake sale, selling T-shirts and raffle tickets, including a 50/50 split-the-pot.
Participants decorated the gym with ribbons bearing the names of people who have survived cancer, as well as those who have lost their life to the disease.
East Italian HonorSociety inductees
Inducted into the Galileo Galilei Chapter of the Societa Onoraria Italica (Italian Honor Society) on Jan. 17, in the Little Theater at East Leyden High School were 12 East Leyden High School students.
Candidates were selected based on academic excellence and their interest in the Italian language and culture. Congratulations to the new members: Maria Aiello, Jazmin Marie Bravo, Dacy Lee Cramer, Michela Gianna Iannelli, Mona Icho, Annalisa Marilyn Jamnik, Anna Oksana Kawka, Ariana Gabriella Maggio, Miroslav Milenov Momchilov, Melanie Monge-Navarro, Robert Virgil Nardella II and Mark Richard Stephens II.
