District 212 ‘Ask the Expert’ day is Feb. 6

Updated: January 31, 2013 11:38PM

Because February is National Career and Technical Education Month, District 212 and Junior Achievement will mark the occasion by hosting “Ask the Expert Day” on Wednesday, Feb. 6.

During the event, both the East and West campuses will host about 200 professionals from various arenas including business, health care, legal, engineering and education to speak with students regarding their educational background, day-to-day work, successes and rewards.

Students in these classes will have the opportunity to interact with the professionals and get firsthand information on careers they are interested in pursuing.

“According to the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce, 30 percent of the 46.8 million job openings created by 2018 will require some college or a two-year associate degree,” says Fran Brady, director of careers for District 212. “This one of the reasons we have Ask the Expert Day. Professionals talk to our students about their education and career experiences and offer them guidance regarding how to reach their goals.”
