Leyden Eagles vs. Hornets Hockey Team benefit Nov. 25

The Leyden Eagles will test their hockey skills against the Hornets Youth Sled Hockey Team at 5:40 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25, at the Edge Ice Arena, 735 E. Jefferson St., Bensenville.

The competition is a benefit game to raise money for the Hornets, a team that provides an opportunity for persons with a physical disability who are 20 years of age or younger to play ice hockey.

“The Hornets program is completely free to our players,” said J.J. O’Connor, the team’s general manager. “Our program is fully funded by donations and 100 percent of the money collected goes directly to purchase equipment and ice time.”

Santa play at East Nov. 30, Dec. 1-2

“A Visit from Santa” is a collection of three short stories starring the big man himself — Santa. Stay after the show for free pictures with Santa, Mrs. Claus and North Pole Elves. It’s all happening at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, and at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, and Sunday, Dec. 2, in the auditorium at East Leyden High School, 3400 Rose St., Franklin Park.

Admission is $1 for children under 10 years of age; $2 for students and $3 for adults.

Madrigal: Holid aytradition Dec. 7-9

Embrace the holiday spirit at District 212’s Olde English Yuletide Dinner scheduled at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, and Saturday, Dec. 8, and at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9. All performances will be held in the Little Theater at East Leyden High School, 3400 N. Rose St., Franklin Park.

This annual tradition features the Leyden Chamber Singers and the GraceNotes, two a cappella ensembles under the direction of Stacy Cunningham. The choruses will perform musical selections such as “Carol of the Bells,” “Good King Wenceslas” and “Silent Night.” This festive event also includes traditional medieval costumes, an appearance by the Court Jester and an authentic Olde English Dinner.
