Sign up by Sept. 15 for free race T-shirt in District 81

The second annual Project Heart Well 5K Run/Walk will take place beginning with an 8 a.m. check in on Sept. 30 at Kennedy School, 3945 Wehman Ave., Schiller Park. The race starts at 9 a.m.; Kids’ Dash starts at 10 a.m. and Special Olympics at 10:30 a.m. There also will be face painting, a DJ, and balloon animals (and a free T-shirt if you sign up by Sept. 15).

Admission for adults (18+) is $12; event day $15. Admission for youth (6-17) is $8; event day $10. Sign up online at www.projectheartwell.com.

Sponsored by School District 81 Community Outreach Foundation, this is an oppportunity to have fun and promote a healthy lifestyle while supporting three causes with a worldwide reach. Proceeds from this event will be used to fund a local soup kitchen that will be run by District 81 students. A contribution will be made to Gift from the Heart Foundation, a local organization that assists children with disabilities in receiving the medical treatment they need. Finally, it will assist an organization, Partners in Mission, with its project to bring electricity to help power a well in the village of Kamwenge in western Uganda.
