Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak is conducting a seminar at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Leyden Township Office, 2501 N. Mannheim Road, Franklin Park.
The seminar will be offered to taxpayers in Leyden Township seeking to appeal their 2011 property tax assessments.
Along with the participation of Leyden Township Assessor Al Biancalana, Cook County Commissioner Peter N. Silvestri and state Rep. Angelo “Skip” Saviano, the Board of Review hopes that the seminars will educate taxpayers on how to file a tax appeal.
The hour-long session will include a presentation by Patlak aimed at helping taxpayers understand how property taxes are calculated and explain the appeal procedure of the Board of Review. Before the end of the evening, taxpayers will have an opportunity to work with analysts from the Board of Review to address specific questions.
The event is free to the public and there is no fee to appeal.
Property owners in Franklin Park, Elmwood Park, River Grove, Schiller Park, unincorporated Leyden Township and the Leyden portion of Northlake, Norridge, Rosemont, Melrose Park and Park Ridge are invited to attend.
Taxpayers are asked to bring a copy of their most recent tax bill.
Contact the Board of Review at (312) 603-3644 with questions.
Taxpayers may also appeal online by visiting www.cookcountyboardofreview.com.
