“Jersey Boys” Leading Cast Sing: 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at the East Leyden High School Auditorium, 3400 Rose St., in Franklin Park. The River Grove School Education Foundation will present “Under the Streetlamp,” an intimate night of music with the recent leading cast members of the Chicago production of “Jersey Boys.” Great music from the ‘60s performed by four gentlemen who between them list Broadway, TV and feature films in their résumés. Sensory Friendly Films: 10 a.m. Feb. 25 - “The Secret World of Arrietty”; March 10 - “Dr. Seuss ’The Lorax’ ”; April 7 - “Pirates! Band of Misfits.” AMC Theatres and the Autism Society have teamed up to bring families affected by autism and other disabilities and sensory issues an opportunity to enjoy films in a safe and accepting environment on a monthly basis. In order to provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for children with autism or other special needs, AMC movie auditoriums will have their lights brought up and the sound turned down, families will be able to bring in their own snacks and no previews or advertisements will be shown before the movie. Additionally, audience members are welcome to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing — in other words, AMC’s “Silence is Golden” policy will not be enforced unless the safety of the audience is questioned. Magic Class: 5-5:55 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Community Center. Children are guaranteed to have a great time as they learn fascinating tricks from the Magic Team of Gary Kantor. Amaze your family and friends with tricks that involve cards, ropes, coins, mind reading and more. While tricks may appear difficult, you’ll discover that they are quick to learn and easy to perform. All materials are provided, and each child receives a magic kit to take home. Children are grouped by age and learn tricks that are age-appropriate. Teen Events
Overnight Teen Ski Trip: Starts 7 p.m. Feb. 10; Ends 7 a.m. Feb. 11 at Chestnut Mountain, Galena, Ill. Dig out your skis and snowboards, because it’s time for one of the most popular teen programs — IPRA’s All-Night Ski Trip to Galena’s Chestnut Mountain. Enjoy a night of skiing, playing games and hanging out overnight with teens from all over Illinois. Chestnut Mountain features 17 lighted slopes overlooking the Mississippi River, a seven-acre snowboard park with all the half and quarter pipes you could want. Even if you can’t ski or snowboard, come out and enjoy the video arcade, DJ, snack bar and snowside fires to warm up. This trip leaves from the Community Center, 9560 Franklin. Grades 6-12, Fee: $85/$95 for ski/snowboard rental and lift and $65/$75 for lift only; $25 no lift.

Adult Fitness: includes Pilates, Tae Kwon Do, T’ai Chi Ch’uan, Yoga, Total Body Fitness, Step/Floor, Zumba, Adult Hip-Hop Cardio and Table Tennis.

Parent-teacher resources: Some subjects you might be surprised to see include baby sign language, yoga for infants, helping youngsters with the grief process and potty-training. DVD and VHS materials on the topics have been moved into the DVD/VHS collections.
Book sale: The ongoing book sale is constantly restocked to provide greater selection of books to purchase. Remember one bag of books is $1. Items include books in Polish, romances and VHS tapes.
Resolve to Read: The library’s winter reading program will run through March 17. There will be prizes, raffles and the joy of reading. Register at the Reference Desk.
Adult Programs
Knitting & Crochet Group: 1 p.m. Feb. 11 (the second Saturday of the month). Learn tips for knitting and crocheting and to meet other crafters and share projects you’re working on.
The Quilters Circle: 9:30-11:30 a.m. Feb. 15 (the first and third Wednesdays of the month). The group, facilitated by Margaret Mischnick and Lys Shradeja, is following a class format divided into two segments. The first 45-60 minutes will include demonstrations of quilt blocks or other sewing/quilting projects. Everyone is encouraged to share ideas and suggestions or request a demonstration of a specific project or pattern. The second period of the class will include time for working on projects and socializing, as well as opportunities to seek help with anything you may be working on in class or at home. All interested quilters and would-be quilters are invited to stop in and visit the group.
Conversation Circle: 7 p.m. Tuesdays for 12 weeks with the last session April 3. The Conversation Circle is a place to practice English conversation skills in an informal setting. A second group is forming and will meet at 1 p.m. Saturdays through April 7.

Become A Donor, Save A Life: 1:30-5 p.m. Feb. 12. Enter the Marrow Registry at the library. Thousands of patients with leukemia and other life-threatening diseases depend on the Be The Match Registry to find a match to save their life. If you’re ever found to be a match, the process of donating can be similar to donating blood platelets. To enter the Be the Match Registry requires a mouth swab and completion of a questionnaire. Donors must be between the ages of 18 and 60 years old and meet certain health guidelines.
Register to Vote: The last date to register to vote and participate in the March Primary is Feb. 21. Staff is available most days to accept voter registration. Remember to bring two pieces of identification, including one with current address.
College Financial Aid Advice: 5-6 p.m. Feb. 15 - Part 1,”Financial Aid: What is it?” and 5-6 p.m. Feb. 21 - Part 2, “Fill Out Your FAFSA.” The Free Application for Federal Student Aid due date is just around the corner. Get advice from Illinois Student Assistance Commission on what financial aid is, how to apply and how the FAFSA works into all this. Make sure you know all your options. Religion Notes
Ekklesia: a Christian adult education organization, will present “Being Instruments of Peace: What does that Mean for Us Today?” at 9:15 a.m. Feb. 15 at St. Giles’ McDonough Hall, 1101 N. Seguin Seeks Older Adults: Make a difference in your community. Seguin Services is seeking adult volunteers, age 55 or older, to volunteer with FIIVE Chicago (Fostering Intergenerational Inclusive Volunteer Engagement in Chicago). It is a volunteer program in which young people with disabilities partner with older adult mentors to engage in service to their communities together. Seguin is seeking volunteers to attend training in February or March and commit to volunteering six hours per month for nine months. The volunteers will mentor young adults as they volunteer together at area soup kitchens, animal shelters, for environmental causes, with foster children, in nursing homes or hospitals, and with homebound older adults.
