‘Jersey Boys’ Leading Cast Sing: 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at the East Leyden High School Auditorium, 3400 Rose St., Franklin Park. The River Grove School Education Foundation will present “Under the Streetlamp,” a night of music with the recent leading cast members of the Chicago production of “Jersey Boys.” Music from the ‘60s will be performed by four men who between them list Broadway, television and feature films in their résumés. Sensory Friendly Films: 10 a.m. Feb. 25 - “The Secret World of Arrietty”; March 10 - “Dr. Seuss ’The Lorax’ ”; April 7 - “Pirates! Band of Misfits.” AMC Theatres and the Autism Society have teamed up to bring families affected by autism and other disabilities and sensory issues an opportunity to enjoy films in a safe and accepting environment on a monthly basis. In order to provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for children with autism or other special needs, AMC movie auditoriums will have their lights brought up and the sound turned down, families will be able to bring in their own snacks and no previews or advertisements will be shown before the movie. Additionally, audience members are welcome to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing — in other words, AMC’s “Silence is Golden” policy will not be enforced unless the safety of the audience is questioned. Kids’ Programs

After School Program: 3-6 p.m. Monday-Friday at the Community Center. Give kids opportunities for fitness activities and homework help after school. Magic Class: 5-5:55 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Community Center. Children can learn tricks from the Magic Team of Gary Kantor. Amaze family and friends with tricks that involve cards, ropes, coins and mind-reading. All materials are provided; and each child receives a magic kit to take home. Children are grouped by age and learn tricks that are age-appropriate. You can sign up for this class again — new tricks are taught at each session. Pre-registration is required. The class is for youth age 5-12. Fee: is $18 for residents and $42 for non-residents.
Teen Events
Overnight Teen Ski Trip: Starts at 7 p.m. Feb. 10 and ends at 7 a.m. Feb. 11 at Chestnut Mountain in Galena. Enjoy a night of skiing, playing games and hanging out overnight with teens from all over Illinois. Chestnut Mountain features 17 lighted slopes overlooking the Mississippi River, a 7-acre snowboard park with all the half- and quarter-pipes you could want. Even if you can’t ski or snowboard, enjoy the video arcade, DJ, snack bar and snowside fires to warm up. The trip leaves from the Community Center, 9560 Franklin. It is for youth in grades 6-12, Fee is $85 for residents and $95 for nonresidents for ski/snowboard rental and lift and $65 for residents and $75 for nonresidents for lift only, Cost is $25 for no lift.

Adult Fitness: includes Pilates, Tae Kwon Do, T’ai Chi Ch’uan, Yoga, Total Body Fitness, Step/Floor, Zumba, Adult Hip-Hop Cardio and Table Tennis.
Fitness Center hours are: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Friday ; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday ; and 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday . Check out the Park District’s rates. The Fitness Center includes two separate rooms and 17 Life Fitness machines. A Fitness Center pass may be obtained at the Community Center, with various membership plans from which to choose. Parent-Teacher Resources: Some subjects you might be surprised to see include baby sign language, yoga for infants, helping youngsters with the grief process, potty training and a whole lot more. DVD and VHS materials on these topics have now been moved into the regular DVD/VHS collections.
Book Sale: The ongoing book sale is constantly being restocked to provide you with a greater selection of books to purchase. Remember one bag of books is only $1. Books in Polish, romances and VHS tapes.
Resolve to Read: The library’s winter reading program will run through March 17. Of course there will be prizes, raffles and the joy of reading as you curl up with a good book each day and expand your mind. Register at the Reference Desk.
Knitting and Crochet Group: 1 p.m. the second Saturday of the month. The group will include experienced crafters and those just getting started. Call Karen Gurski at (847) 455-6016 for more information.
Conversation Circle: 7 p.m. on Tuesdays through April 3. This group allows those who wish to practice speaking English to do so in a supportive and friendly setting. All are welcome.

Homebound Service: (for blind and physically disabled). The library has homebound service for people who are unable to come to the library due to physical limitations. Register to Vote at Your Library: The last date to register to vote and participate in the March 2012 Primary is Tuesday, Feb. 21. Trained staff available most days to accept voter registration. Remember to bring two pieces of ID with you, including one with your current address.
College Financial Aid Advice: 5-6 p.m. Feb. 15 - Part 1,”Financial Aid: What is it?” and 5-6 p.m. Feb. 21 - Part 2, “Fill Out Your FAFSA.” The Free Application for Federal Student Aid due date is just around the corner. Get helpful advice from Illinois Student Assistance Commission on what financial aid is, how to apply and how the FAFSA works into all this. Make sure you know all your options. All of this will be covered in Part 1. In Part 2, you can fill out your FAFSA and receive expert answers to all your questions about the form.
