Name: Rocky

Species: Dog

Breed: Border Collie/Retriever

Color: Black and White

Gender: Male

Age: 1 year, 1 month

Rocky is a well-loved family dog whose owners returned him to the Animal Care League after they lost their home. He has a good start on his obedience. He knows sit and down. Staff and volunteers are working on his leash walking every day. True to his breed mix (we’re thinking maybe Border Collie and German Shepherd), this guy is full of energy and will need 2 to 3 hours of off-leash exercise a day. He would make a great running partner and be sure to get you out of bed even on the gloomiest days. Rocky has lived with older children and because of his size and larger than life attitude, we’re recommending him for homes with children older than 10 who are comfortable with large dogs. He is housebroken but because he spent the majority of his time outdoors in his previous home, his new family will need to crate train him until they are sure of his house habits and manners. Come visit Rocky and let his fun-loving antics and happy attitude win you over.

To adopt a featured pet or to learn more call the Animal Care League at (708) 848-8155, visit the shelter at 1011 Garfield St., Oak Park, or e-mail animalcare@ameritech.net. Available online at www.animalcareleague.org.

People who love their pets get ID tags for them. It’s the right thing to do and it’s a village law. If you lose a pet or find someone else’s, call Pioneer Press at (847) 998-3400 to put a free, lost or found, ad in classifieds.
