Weather causes Franklin Park, Elmwood Park area schools to cancel for second day in a row

Area students will enjoy a second day off from school.

“No school due to extreme weather temperatures” on Tuesday, Jan. 7 according to the Mannheim Elementary District 83 website. That includes all five schools.

On Wednesday, Jan 8, schools will open late. Students at Mannheim Middle School will be expected at 9:30 a.m. Students at the elementary schools – Enger, Roy, Scott and Westdale –aren’t due in until 10:30 a.m.

Over at Franklin Park Elementary District 84, schools will again be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 7. That includes Hester Jr High and North, Passow and Pietrini elementary schools. Classes will resume on Wednesday, Jan. 8 according to normal schedule.

Meanwhile, students in Leyden District 212 will have their winter vacations extended another day. Classes are cancelled on Tuesday, Jan 7 at both East Leyden and West Leyden high schools according to the District 212 website. School will resume on Wednesday, Jan. 8.

Districts 401, 212, Guerin College Prep and Trinity High School have canceled school for Tuesday as frigid temperatures are expected to continue.
