FRANKLIN PARK — Challenger Kathleen Willis retained a lead over incumbent Angelo “Skip” Saviano late Tuesday night for the 77th Illinois House.
With 60 of 61 precincts reporting, Willis had 13,413 votes versus Saviano’s 12,103.
Saviano, 54, has been a state representative in the 77th District since 1993. A Republican, he earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from DePaul University and lives in Elmwood Park. He served as Leyden Township Supervisor for four years prior to running for state representative.
Kathleen Willis, 50, lives in Addison and challenged Saviano for his seat. A Democrat, she earned a bachelor’s degree in human services administration at Elmhurst College and a master’s in library and information services at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She works as a librarian at Elmhurst College. She is serving her third term on the Addison School District 4 Board. She ran for village trustee in Addison two years ago, but was not elected.
